WELCOME TO SUMMER, VERKHOYANSK, RUSSIA! (100°F in the ARCTIC!, NEW RECORD)
Verkhoyansk, Russia, in the ARCTIC CIRCLE, just hit 100 degrees!!! That is SO hot, 10 degrees hotter than our local temperatures right now, which are 91 degrees, and I'm NOWHERE close to the Arctic! But also not close to the equator either... And WE are complaining about the 91 degrees here when the ARCTIC is in the TRIPLE DIGITS! OMG! This is the HOTTEST the Arctic has EVER been, beating the record of 99.1°F that was set on July 25, 1988, AND the FIRST time the Arctic has ever been in the TRIPLE DIGITS! Most of the time, when you think of the word "arctic", you immediately think of COLD!!! But I guess future generations, starting with Gen Alpha, the one after Gen Z, which I am, will think of "HOT!!!" when they think of the word "arctic". Sad. WE NEED TO SAVE THE PLANET!
