2484 Days Of This Blog's Existence. 1459 Days Left Of Trump's (2nd) Presidency. And TikTok's brief BAN...

Wow, what a CRAZY year 2025 has been! And we're not even in February yet! Anyways, here's some MAJOR things that have happened in 2025 so far:

January 1, 2025 - A WILD start to the year. The New Orleans New Year's street attack, where a man connected to ISIS decided to drive into people celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street around 3:15AM CST (4:15AM EST), and a few other events happened as well, including a nightclub shooting in Queens.

(NOT a good start...)

January 6, 2025 - Congress certifies Donald Trump's election win, leading to his return to office 14 days later as usual, ending any chance of Kamala Harris becoming the 47th POTUS.

January 17, 2025 - History is made as the Supreme Court decides that the proposed TikTok ban IS constitutional, leading to it taking effect not long after.

January 18, 2025 - US ByteDance Blackout - ALL ByteDance products go dark in the US due to the TikTok ban, which required ByteDance to divest or sell by January 19, 2025.

~ 10 PM EST - CapCut goes dark

~ 10:30 PM EST - TikTok goes dark

Other ByteDance products went dark the same day, including Lemon8, Marvel Snap, and all other ByteDance apps and websites. By January 19, ALL ByteDance products were removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store due to the law that banned TikTok and all other ByteDance apps from being available on the app stores.

(As of January 22, 2025, all ByteDance apps HAVE gone back online, but ONLY online or via the apps downloaded pre-shutdown. They're still unavailable on the app stores as of January 22, 2025 due to this law, despite President Trump giving a 75 day extension for TikTok (and potentially all other ByteDance apps).)

TikTok shortly before getting banned just before 9 PM EST on Jan 18, 2025.

At about 10:30 PM, the TikTok mobile app ceased to function. Website functionality was ceased at 10:36 PM on Jan 18, 2025. Access was restored by mid-day on Jan 19, 2025.

2 things to note here:

1. They say President Trump, even though it was still President Biden when this law took effect (really bad timing though, the day before the inauguration...).

2. Considering that TikTok said that Trump would work with (ByteDance/TikTok) on a solution "once he takes office", I assumed that TikTok would be available again no earlier than 12 PM on January 20, 2025, once Trump retook the office, but it was restored around 24 hours prior, midday on January 19, 2025, while Biden was still president.

January 19, 2025 - TikTok comes back online, other ByteDance products follow starting January 20. Here's what the "resurrection text" read:

1. At this time (early afternoon on Jan 19, 2025), it was still President Biden, not President Trump.

2. Gen Z and the internet did NOT like the fact that TikTok was basically ass-kissing Trump in this scenario, and in the previous scenario.

January 20, 2025 - Donald Trump officially becomes the 47th POTUS - Biden's era ends and most of his policies are rolled back by Trump (not a surprise...) and most of WhiteHouse.gov disappears...

And unlike everything from before being wiped from existence from the main website from Biden, ALL of my posts on this website remain! Nearly NOTHING has been deleted!
If it HAS been deleted (really rare!), it WILL be archived!

(However, the US government DOES archive the past POTUS' WhiteHouse.gov site and their social medias. For instance, the 2021-2025 White House site is still accessible at BidenWhiteHouse.archives.gov. I'm saying that WhiteHouse.gov ITSELF has been wiped for Trump, but it HAS been archived as you just saw. They also do this for FLOTUS, VP, and a few others)

An example: @POTUS from 2021-2025 is now @potus46archive on sites like Instagram and Threads (Donald Trump isn't even ON Threads!) and Trump does NOT have access to these accounts, so they will be archived forever!

One more REALLY bad thing...

The White House website link for the now defunct Office of Gun Violence Prevention, started in 2023 by President Biden, and defunct January 20, 2025. Yeah, Trump doesn't give a shit about gun violence, even when our kids are dying in schools and other places. (January 1, 2025)

Gun violence prevention is 404 Not Found. This is fucking DISGUSTING...

Anyways, I just wanted to make a post here so this website didn't feel abandoned - my posts here have been very infrequent and we're coming up on 7 years of this blog!

It has been 2,484 days since April 5, 2018, the first day I posted here, nearly 7 years ago.

There are 1,459 days left until the projected end date of Donald Trump's 2nd term on January 20, 2029, given he makes it to the end of his term and is unable to change the 2 term rule (if he's able to change that rule, he will be in the office until the day he dies, literally, he will NOT leave office if given the chance) and given JD Vance does not take the office prior to then. (Trump's elderly and eats junk food, he doesn't have the healthiest diet, he's already 78, and will be 79 in June...)
