HONORING 50 YEARS SINCE MANKIND FIRST STEPPED FOOT ON THE MOON...
Today is July 20, 2019, and today marks 50 years since we, mankind, first stepped foot on the moon. Today is the day where I shall honor the first "Moon Day" which will take place every year on July 20. It was a more than impressive achievement, the most impressive moment of the 20th century and all of AD/CE! It was just so shocking that President Kennedy's 1961 mission to put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s came true only 4 MONTHS shy from 1970! Below are some fun facts and info about the moon launch and such.
In 1961, President John F. Kennedy declared that the U.S. would put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s. This was during the Space Race, a competition between the U.S. and the Soviet Union to see who could reach the moon first and come up with better space technology. The Soviets won the early rounds; they launched the first artificial satellite in 1957, put the first man in space in 1961, followed by a woman in 1963, but the U.S. won when we put a man on the moon on July 20, 1969, just shy of 1970! Kennedy died in 1963, but his last mission was mission complete, and his legacy will live on!
