Fall Foliage With TR27: Preseason 5

Preseason (Update) 5

Falling Outta Summer (coincidentally the name of the 67th episode of My High School Years (TR27's Version), my vlog that you should totally watch over on the Episodes tab on this site!)

08.26.25

With 5 days left to go in the 2025 preseason of Fall Foliage With TR27, it is time that I make the 5th update and state that the transition to fall has already begun.

The lines might've been long at Six Flags New England (Agawam, MA) today when I went and screamed summer, but not only did I notice lines, I noticed trees with fall foliage on them, and with temps only in the 70s (high of 77.5°F/25.3°C), it was starting to feel like fall as well especially with dew points in the 40s! 🥶 Normally, when the wind blows on a summer day, it's a hot/warm wind that doesn't really cool you down, but today's wind felt like an Arctic blast to help cool you down while waiting in line!

I didn't take that many pictures today, but of the ones I did, you can definitely tell the transition into fall is happening. I'd say it's early, but from experience in 2023 and 2024, I think it's on time. I'm not sure which experience that ends summer comes first: Back to school, fall foliage, or the weather itself!

Summer is starting to wind down, but this means is that we're entering the awkward time of year where it's AC weather in the afternoon but crisp and somewhat cold in the mornings that lasts from August/September into October and even November!

Here's the forecast for the next 14 days (keep in mind my official temperature documentation begins 9/1/25, Labor Day, the 1st day of meteorological fall) from August 27 to September 9, 2025:

Celsius conversion: Take number shown (in °F), subtract 32 and then divide by 1.8
(e.g. 50°F = ((50-32)/1.8)°C = (18/1.8)°C = 10°C)

(As of 9:53PM EDT 8/26/25):
8/26: Official high of 78, exp. low of 52
8/27: ⛅ 73/46 (46 is VERY cold for a summer night, that's basically an October night!)
8/28: ⛅ 78/56
8/29: 🌧️ 71/49 (52%, our best chance of rain in the forecast)
8/30: 🌤️ 72/49
8/31: 🌤️ 75/51
9/1: ⛅ 79/51 (last day water-related attractions and entire amusement parks in some cases are open, Labor Day, also the start of my documentation of fall's weather, looks to be a very warm start! At least it's not 90s... 😎)
9/2: 🌧️ 79/53 (31%, hit or miss)
9/3: ⛅ 80/55
9/4: ⛅ 82/59
9/5: ⛅ 80/57
9/6: ⛅ 81/56
9/7: 🌧️ 75/54 (34%, again, hit or miss)
9/8: ⛅ 76/53
9/9: ⛅ 76/53

As you can tell, we're still in warm weather territory, with every high expected to be above 70 (at least for now, the way that 8/29 is going, it MIGHT be upper 60s instead with rain in the forecast) and it looks like right after Labor Day we get summerlike weather, right after all the summer stuff closes. Of course, Mother Nature! With these warm temps expected post 9/1, DO NOT close your pools yet, they still have use! Wait until it's under 70 basically an entire week and then close them, they're still good for use as long as nights stay above 32, and that will continue for a WHILE! Also, pools and water stuff might be closed post-Labor Day, but you can still do other stuff like walk outside and even go to beaches after Labor Day! Odds are, your local beach is free parking after Labor Day, so take advantage of it since Mother Nature clearly isn't done with summer on 9/1! (Note: NO LIFEGUARDS, SWIM AT OWN RISK AFTER 9/1, SOME FACILITIES MIGHT BE UNAVAILABLE)

Wait, where's the foliage pics? Here you go!

Look at those yellow leaves at Six Flags on August 26, 2025. Even though the park is still in summer mode until Monday (9/1/25), the trees have already decided it's fall, or at least they're prepping for it!

Abandoned area at Six Flags New England, some foliage is clearly already turning fall colors especially in the bottom right, August 26, 2025.

Goodbye, Six Flags, goodbye summer!

The parking area at Six Flags is already showing fall colors in spots!

The dark green of summer is fading, goodbye chlorophyll!

Starting to look like September over here!

This one's already in fall mode!

Back home, not only are these leaves changing colors, but they're already BROWN before September?! 😰

This one's already starting!

From green straight to brown, no in-between!

Starting to look nice, the preseason is showing awesome colors!

Wake me up, when September ends... Wait, it's not even the 1st yet! I swear it looks like September 15 outside...

This one is an early turner, and it looks like peak for it will be on Labor Day or so!

For August 26, we're already getting quite a few spots of color!
