IT'S DAY 2 OF OUR TRIP TO CAPE COD!
Today was June 24, 2020, and it marked our 2nd day of our trip to Cape Cod! Today started around 9:30 AM, when I got up, but it wasn't until about 2-3pm, that the day really began to start. Around 2pm, we realized that through the emergency numbers on our door, we also found out that the motel's WiFi password was on there, and it said "Pool Hours 8am-8pm". At first, we were excited that the motel had a pool; we didn't know that! But unfortunately, the pool is closed due to COVID-19. #ItsNot2019 But, we are like 3 minutes from the ocean, so THAT'S convenient! So, around 3:30pm, we went to the beach and planned to stay until sunset, but Mom realized we had to go to Cape Cod Mall, which was only 10 minutes away, and we got there around 5:45pm. But while we were at the beach, it was VERY WINDY AND COLD, but we stayed until we had to go to the mall at 5:45pm. We were going to eat dinner at Chipotle, but we decided to eat at Not Your Average Joe's, which was next door to Chipotle. But, there were no tables until 7pm, so we had to go to Cape Cod Mall the last hour they were open (6-7pm, pre-COVID 8-9pm) and we shopped at Marshall's for the remainder of the time, and I saw an empty arcade (Ten Pin Eatery and Arcade) for the first time. Believe me, it was interesting to see an empty arcade, and not knowing if arcades are ever going to come back, because of COVID-19 and the many risks of having an arcade in these times, as many people go there, many people touch the surfaces a lot, it's going to be hard to have an arcade in these times after they're over, but I know they will figure out a way to go to the arcade, SAFELY. I mean, pre-COVID, they had introduced arcade cards, rather than tickets, which is a much cleaner way of having tickets, which everybody touches. I know they probably clean arcade cards before putting them in the machine that dispenses them, but back to the mall. After looking at the empty arcade, and me getting 3,000 steps (the beach and the mall), which was the first achievement for the pedometer app I had just downloaded a few weeks prior, we sat down in the empty food court (closed due to COVID-19, select restaurants, about 30%, open for takeout ONLY), until we got a call for our reservation at Not Your Average Joe's at 6:45pm, 15 minutes early. So we got to Not Your Average Joe's (or NYAJ for short) at 6:50pm, 10 minutes before the reservation. When we got there, we found out that the dining room (or indoor seating) was closed, despite being allowed in part 2 of phase 2 of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker's decision to allow indoor dining and other services closed from COVID-19 to reopen, so we had no choice but to sit outside (or get takeout) for our visit. So we ate outside, and first, we were asked if we had ever been to the restaurant before, and we all said no, so they told us it is a scratch kitchen restaurant (much like 110 Grill) and that everything is local and not far away, like McDonald's for example. Also, the waitress told us that we only had 90 minutes to be at the restaurant, but that most customers didn't hit that limit. We then asked for drinks, and I got my Diet Coke, Melanie and William got their Sprite, and Mom got her drink. Then, after about 10-15 minutes, we were asked for food. I asked for a plain cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, but she told me that the fries are fried in the same facility as the other stuff, so THAT didn't happen. π€¬ And after 30 MINUTES, we all got our food. It was good, and then around 8:00-8:15pm (about 90 minutes in, the end of our visit), we got dessert which was carrot cake with caramel on top, and it was already gluten free, so that was good. We took that to our hotel, but before we got to our hotel, Mom let me take a picture of the sunset, which was quite beautiful, then we got to our hotel, and ate the carrot cake from the restaurant, talked to my mom, and then went to bed, and that was the end of Day 2 of our trip to Cape Cod!
Breakfast: 2 KIND bars, a whole package of MadeGood mixed berry granola minis, and 2 oranges π
Lunch: 2 dark chocolate chip waffles, 3 strawberries, and scrambled eggs with spinach π
Afternoon snack: Quaker caramel rice crisps (formally Popped!) π
Going to the beach: (one of these pictures is my wallpaper now, can you guess which one it is?) π (too windy!!!)
Answer: If you guessed #2, then great job! π
(You only had an 1/11 chance, or ~9% chance of getting it right through random guessing!)
Now, to the Cape Cod Mall: (before dining) π
Now, to the dining out part of our night, at Not Your Average Joe's (or NYAJ) ππ (good food, but not the most celiac friendly restaurant, as they cook stuff in the same frier, was unable to have sweet potato fries because of this, although GF buns are available π€¬)
110 Grill is better on SO MANY levels!
Now, to the final part of the day: sunset and dessert:
It was an amazing day, and I can't wait for Day 3 tomorrow!
Beautiful pictures!!! Looks like you are really having a great time. Enjoy!!!
