COVID-19: 1 YEAR SINCE THE FIRST CASE (IN THE US), 10 MONTHS INTO THE PANDEMIC... 😷
WOW. It's been 1 year since COVID-19 made its way to the US for the first time on January 21, 2020 from Wuhan, China. A lot has changed since then, and I am also sorry for failing to address the start of the pandemic on My High School Years (February - Mayish) as this is a very historic time we are living through.
Things that have changed in 1 year:
LIFE INDEFINITELY INTERRUPTED
MANY MORE RESTRICTIONS ON LIFE (Masks, distancing, curfews, closed businesses, etc.)
In January 2020, we thought:
"This is a small virus, it will go away"
"China will deal with this, its just another one of those viruses, like Ebola"
"It will never make it this far, we will be fine"
But, by Spring 2020, all of those thoughts were extinguished when we found out the hard truth about COVID-19, which was all of the above...
Now, in January 2021, we are thinking:
"This will be over soon, we will all get vaccinated"
"Will we get to have a normal summer?"
"Can we do things again soon?"
COVID on January 21, 2020:
US Cases: 1 (Worldwide: hundreds only) 0 Deaths
COVID on January 21, 2021:
US Cases: 25,178,628
US Deaths: 419,793
(Worldwide: 98,032,763 cases, 2,097,743 deaths)
Vaccinations:
US: 18,449,288 (Worldwide: 56,740,891)
So, HOPEFULLY, we'll be able to do things again; hopefully by summer!
Why? Because summer 2021 is my LAST summer as a teenager; I want a #CarefreeSummer!!! #Summer2021Normality
Once I turn 18, I've got lots to deal with, so please, make it 17! #Please...
We all hope that this settles down for the summer!!!
