BAD NEWS FOR GOOGLE PHOTOS USERS: (INCLUDING ME) BEGINNING 6/1/2021, UNLIMITED FREE STORAGE WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE

Geez, this world is becoming a MONEYSUCKER. Beginning June 1, 2021, Google Photos, known for its unlimited free photo and video storage, will no longer be offering unlimited free storage to people and instead, photo/video storage will count on people's Google Drive storage, which is limited to 15GB of storage, and once filled up, users will need to pay for extra storage on Google One. This is really unfortunate for people like me who cannot afford extra storage, and for being a Google Photos customer since summer 2018 (main pictures go back to October 2017, but there are pics that go back to 2016) and having THOUSANDS of pictures and videos on the service, it is sad that this is happening, but the good news is that there are alternatives with more than 15GB of storage out there, one particular such service called Dubox, which offers 1TB of free storage, which is a lot, in fact, about 68.25X more storage than Google Drive! The good news for Google Photos users: this does not affect files uploaded before 6/1/2021.

Sorry, Google Photos users, it's almost time to switch to Dubox...

By the way, Google Photos is wrong. They told me that with 15GB of storage, it would take 1 year to fill it up, but from my calculations (and experience with Dubox), it only takes about 2 1/2 months to fill it up. 2 months of storage? No thanks! But, with Dubox and 1TB, using my calculations, it would take about 14 YEARS to fill THAT up! That's all the way until 2035, or when I'm 31 YEARS OLD! SO, DUBOX IS THE FUTURE!

What I would capture with Dubox:

2021: An amazing summer and a possible return to normality (Possible trips: NYC, Brooklyn NY, Virginia Beach VA, Washington DC, Northern NJ, among many others!)

2022: LOADS OF GRADUATIONS; Melanie's college graduation, my high school graduation, William's college graduation! And a VERY fun summer packed with trips and such!

Also from 2021-2022: Final years of high school

2022 to between 2023 and 2028 (currently unknown timeframe) Autistic college experience

Between 2023 and 2028 to 2035: First years of full adulthood

So yes, A LOT WILL BE CAPTURED. TO SAVE TIME AND TO PREPARE, I HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED DUBOX AND HAVE STARTED TO USE IT, TRANSFERRING PICTURES AND VIDEOS TO THE DUBOX CLOUD.

By the way, for your convenience, here are the drawbacks:

Slow upload speed: Pictures upload around 1MB/sec and videos upload around 300-800KB/sec. However, the service only started in September 2020, so it is a brand new service. Hopefully, the upload speeds will get faster in the future, but for now, I will learn to deal with it.

Dubox is a subsidiary of Baidu, a Chinese company, so this may or may not be bad, it depends.

Other than that, Dubox is a GREAT alternative and ranked as the #5 best photo sharing app by Appgrooves and has 4.4 stars on Google Play with over 100,000 downloads.

1TB will get you A LONG WAY, 500X more than Dropbox's 2GB of free storage, about 68X more than Google Drive's 15GB of free storage, and 10X more than Degoo's 100GB of free storage!

For me, 1TB will last about 14 years, however, it differs between users.

So, Dubox is the future!

IT'S DAY 3 OF MY 2019 FEBRUARY VACATION!

You're probably wondering, where's DAY 2? Well, let's just say that Day 2, was a snow day! We went nowhere! And so, Day 2 was not noteworthy for a blog post. So we're skipping Day 2 and going straight to Day 3. What happened today: (2/19/19) We had plans to go to Berkshire East. That would've been a lot of fun. However, by the time we even got to the exit for Berkshire East, it was like an hour before they closed. So we decided to do that tomorrow (2/20/19) and went to Yankee Candle instead. That was good, but it could've been better due to me almost losing my diabetes kit. (Luckily, it was in the car!) Now, I've had some good experiences with Yankee Candle in the past, especially in 2013. Now, a little flashback to Nov 30, 2013: Mom and I visited Yankee Candle on Nov 30, 2013. When we got there, it was a cold morning and we watched Santa come down from the sky. That was fun! And then, we had some good food and sweets, lots of fun, and a little Candy Crush

My High School Years: Hashtag 31 (2/22/19)

This is SEASON 1 EPISODE 16. Summary: It was February vacation, and I had a lot of fun and did so many things! I went to PINZ twice, Autobahn twice, (only raced once) went to Yankee Candle,  went to 110 Grill  with Julie, and went to Downtown Northampton and got lunch at VIVA pasta! I will definitely be back!
