Fall Foliage With TR27: Back To The 80s (09.28.25)
Back To The 80s
Update 28 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27
09.28.25
Just like the show I went to at the Marigold Theater on 09.24.25, today's weather was Back To The 80s, and full-on 80s too, 86 at the PWS in Easthampton, MA and at least 86 at Westover (we'll figure out the max high a little after 8 PM tonight) today, which is VERY close to unheard of/pink tier territory for me, which is 21+°F above average! Speaking of, let's get to that right now.
Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:
For today, day 28:
High: 86°F
Average: 68°F
(+18)
Today was VERY close to unheard of/pink tier territory, but we didn't quite get there at 18 degrees above average, 10 Celsius above average! Tomorrow and 09.30 are going to be close to if not 80 degrees, so this warm weather continues for the rest of the month and then it takes a short break starting October 1. And then it's back again! Speaking of, let's get to the forecast!
The expected forecast from 9/29-10/12:
9/29: 🌤️ 79/50
9/30: ⛅ 80/45
10/1: ☀️ 69/42
10/2: ☀️ 66/38
10/3: ⛅ 73/43
10/4: ☀️ 80/46
10/5: ☀️ 81/48
10/6: ⛅ 83/50
10/7: ⛅ 81/53
10/8: 🌧️ 76/49 (47%)
10/9: 🌤️ 70/47
10/10: ⛅ 68/46
10/11: 🌤️ 69/44
10/12: ⛅ 68/47
Whoa, this forecast got WAY warmer! Considering that the expected highs between 9/29-10/12 are expected to be 66-83°F, let's just say the majority, if not ALL of the upcoming forecast is above average! During that timeframe, the average high falls from 67 to 62, so having highs being in the upper 60s, 70s and even 80s is HIGHLY UNUSUAL! Clearly, summer does NOT want to leave, and now we have a look at the forecast for Indigenous People's Day weekend, upper 60s?! Yeah, that should be the end of summer with this forecast, not Labor Day! Also, around that weekend is when fall vibes TRULY begin, but if the weather wants to keep behaving like this, ACTUAL fall weather might not arrive until peak foliage week (usually the 4th week of October, usually around October 15-25), Halloween or even later than that! November is the new October and October is the new September - this forecast truly proves that!
(Also, I did NOT use ChatGPT to write ANY of this. Yes, ChatGPT usually starts with "Whoa, (insert rest here)", but this post and ALL posts here were 100% written by ME, a human!)
Here's the main pic and fall foliage pics taken today, 9/28/25:
18 degrees above average, not ages 18 and over. Just figured I would clarify that!
As warm weather continues, fall foliage is progressing at a snail's pace. I'm honestly not surprised, but downtown is usually the last of the area to change color, those trees on the side of Cottage Street that has Riverside Industries and the newly built 47 Cottage Street apartment complex didn't change until November last year, and with how long warm weather is sticking around, I expect to see these colors change on these trees either around the same time (early-to-mid November) or later!
This is the 3rd to last outdoor farmers market in Easthampton, MA that happens every Sunday through October 12, which is a natural cutoff due to weather, but it looks like temps will not fall that much by then, and honestly, upper 60s by mid-October is still rather warm! Honestly, if Mother Nature wants to keep behaving like this, they could have the farmers market outside for ALL of October and maybe even the first or second week of November as well! Unfortunately though, Indigenous People's Day is the cutoff for things like this and river cruises, whether it be 80 or 50 that day!
A rare outlier, beautiful foliage at the parking lot of the old Walgreens (RIP March 2025), the Dynasty Gourmet Chinese restaurant and the Subway. Given Subway doesn't have gluten-free options, I honestly hope they close and it becomes a Jersey Mike's location, that would be awesome so I could actually eat there!
For now, that's not the case, Subway has totally taken over the old signage from Walgreens/Rite Aid since it would be empty/outdated!
That's how warm it actually got to today, it basically felt hot outside but with a cool breeze!
(86°F/30°C)
These trees tried to change colors, but it seems the weather caused them to get stuck!
Minutes after taking these pics, the Big E's thermometer started increasing dramatically and even read up to 92°F, but obviously, that was erroneous.
They cut down all the trees here as they prepare to build housing at this site! This is at 27 Pleasant Street, the old church. They plan to build new housing where the cut down trees are, in the old church, and they plan to tear down the buildings east of that that were used for the old church and even the building currently used for Roots Daycare. However, I doubt they'll demolish that until the new building is built on the Sierra Vista Commons site currently under construction! However, it seems that with a fence and cut down trees, they're already ready to start! Maybe this will be done in phases like Sierra Vista!
The buildings on the far left and right of this photo are expected to be demolished, and as for the one on the right which is currently Roots Daycare (since it was built), it was only built within the last 20 years, so having it be demolished so early would honestly be unfortunate, but at least it served its purpose!
This is the water side of Ferry Street and the foliage is only just starting!
As you can tell, the foliage has barely started! Better pics of the mountain and other important areas will come tomorrow, 9/29/25!
These are the best pics of the mountain I could get, and honestly, basically a week into fall, it still looks like summer and it sure as hell still feels like it as well!
Pool check: Is it still open?
This is the brief area of foliage next to the Easthampton Animal Hospital, and honestly, it looks awesome and is probably at or near peak!
What a gorgeous and WARM day today was! I'll see you tomorrow as warm weather continues through the 30th, and then as it comes back October 4-8 with 80s now truly expected, potentially for another 5 day period or so much like September 26-30, which we are currently going through right now! Geez, I guess we ARE still in summer through Indigenous People's Day... 🥵😬☀️🏖️ Aside for October 1/2 and October 10-12 that is...
