Fall Foliage With TR27: October?! (09.29.25)
October?!
Finishing off with a SPECTACULAR sunset! I saw light coming through my window and I figured I had to check it out and let's just say, I got my camera out within seconds of visually seeing this!
Update 29 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27
09.29.25
Wow. This forecast is only getting warmer and I honestly struggled to figure out a title for this update, but obviously, the EXTREMELY warm weather coming up in October deserves the title, and it's the beginning of saying October?! What the hell are you doing?! Even the "cooldown" that is expected October 1 & 2 is now only expected down to the mid-60s at most, and that's still comfortable and where we should be for this time of year, but other than that and the very end of the forecast, our forecast still screams summer. STILL!
Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:
For day 29:
High: 79°F
Average: 67°F (for the next 3 days including 9/29 that 67 is the average high, DO NOT get me started on all the talk about that number going on with Gen Alpha!)
(+12)
9/29 wasn't as extreme as yesterday, but being in the red tier is BAD because we should be as close to normal as possible, and let's just say that September has had A LOT of red tier days, 11-20°F above average days, a tier we should NOT be in, but we're only going to add A LOT more days in said tier with the way the forecast is going, and if the forecast gets a bit warmer than it already has, next week could be our first pink tier day, 21+°F above average, which is BAD BAD. It just has to get to around 85 for that to happen, and it looks like that might be the case! It's gonna be CLOSE... As always, 1 or 2 more hours of sunshine than expected or 10% less cloud cover than expected and it COULD happen, it got to 87 on 9/28 and it was only supposed to be 84! 😬🥵
The expected forecast from 9/30-10/13:
9/30: ⛅ 80/44
10/1: ☀️ 67/39
10/2: ☀️ 66/40
10/3: 🌤️ 73/44
10/4: ☀️ 80/48
10/5: ☀️ 85/52 *High to enter pink tier: 86+°F
10/6: 🌤️ 84/55 *High to enter pink tier: 86+°F
10/7: ⛅ 83/51 *High to enter pink tier: 85+°F
10/8: 🌧️ 70/44 (40%)
10/9: ⛅ 66/43
10/10: ⛅ 70/49
10/11: 🌧️ 71/46 (42%)
10/12: 🌧️ 69/47 (46%)
10/13: 🌧️ 66/47 (42%)
It just keeps getting hotter and hotter, and then for it to fall to ONLY the mid-60s 10/1, 10/2, 10/9 and 10/13, Indigenous People's Day? That's unusual, and this forecast is DANGEROUS! For those that covered up/took out their ACs already, I warned you; should've kept it open/uncovered!
At least we have our first look at the weather for ALL of Indigenous People's Day weekend: Rainy for the entire weekend (moderate chance) and at to slightly above average temps! This is getting into mid-October and we don't see any highs below 65 yet - this is becoming a problem FAST! It looks like a cooldown begins Indigenous People's Day weekend falling from low 70s to mid-60s so maybe that could do it, but still. This is a HOT forecast! Still up for that late-season beach trip with free parking? I'm serious!
Here's the main pic and fall foliage pics taken 9/29/25:
Slightly higher than the temp actually got (79 at the PWS and at Westover AFB) but still close to what the actual high was. Considering that it got to around 86-87 on 9/28, when Big E's was reading 92, that honestly wasn't THAT far off!
New development in Easthampton, coming Spring 2026: Riverview Place! Located at 27 Pleasant Street, the trees to the left of the church have been cut down and in that location AND the church will be built housing: the area where the trees were will be built from scratch and the church will be turned into housing but it will remain intact, also need to mention that for those trees, this was their last foliage season if they even changed at all by the time they were cut down only a few days ago! A fence has now been put up as construction will likely begin VERY soon as we're in fall 2025, so they have like 6 months to build this thing from scratch. I wouldn't be surprised if the parking lot is torn up by Indigenous People's Day, October 13 this year!
This building was also planned to be demolished, and note the Notre Dame Rectory office sign, that's what this church was. It closed in 2010 if I'm not mistaken, became another church and then closed a second time. The last I remember, this church became a patrimony center for the Our Lady of the Valley Parish church and it was operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield (MA) but it must've closed very recently because the signage for it was up in a capture of the area on Google Street View in August 2023 but was taken down by August 2025, which speaking of, there's new Street View imagery in Easthampton, MA! Yay! Even though the Street View car went by only A MONTH AGO, considering what's happened, it's already outdated!
It's starting to look like fall at this point, but the weather? Not quite! Mostly, anyways. Keep in mind it was colder on August 20 (63°F) than it has been any date since, and we're at the tail end of September now!
OK, that's really it! I'll see you tomorrow for the last update of September and in that update, we'll go over the total average through the month of September and for the way the forecast is looking, October is going to be TWICE as bad, and I'm not even joking! September is already at dangerous levels and October is looking like HELL. Just in time for Halloween, I guess! 😂🥵ðŸ˜☀️
Updated 11:14 AM on 9/30/25 to fix error on location of new Riverview Place development, it's at 27 Pleasant Street, not 27 Cottage Street.
