Fall Foliage With TR27: Soaked (09.25.25)

Soaked

Update 25 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27

09.25.25 (posted 09.26)

What a fitting name for today's update! Today was a very rainy day (though there were significant lulls) and we've received quite beneficial rainfall over the last 2 days or so, and it looks like that will continue for one more night tonight and end by tomorrow when skies clear, mugginess decreases and temps climb to around 80! Yes, on September 26th, it's going to be around 80! And it will be on the 27th. And on the 28th! And on the 29th! And then it stops, before temps return to the low 70s after a chilly start to October. Let's get to that right now.

Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:

For today, day 25:

High: 72°F
Average: 69°F
(+3)

Today was another day where the weather misbehaved, not only in terms of precipitation (NOT complaining, we needed that rain and is getting a multi-day soaking like this is absolutely best case scenario after such a dry end to the summer!) but in terms of the temperature as well. You might think "it got to 72, that's only 3 degrees above average, surely that's normal", but it's not WHAT the temp was that was abnormal today (though that will DEFINITELY be the case 09.26-09.29!) but it was how the temp behaved today. Last night, temps bottomed out around 63 (absolutely red tier territory for this time of year with yesterday's average low being 50, so that was +13!) and then they stayed in the low-to-mid 60s up until around 4-5 PM and then right before sunset (the 6 PM hour), they spiked to the low 70s and right now, at around 11 PM, the temp is around 70, which is AGAIN quite unusual and probably even MORE abnormal than 24 hours ago!

The expected forecast from 9/26-10/9:
9/26: ⛅ 80/53
9/27: ⛅ 78/58
9/28: ⛅ 81/54
9/29: ⛅ 82/54
9/30: ⛅ 79/44
10/1: 🌤️ 67/38
10/2: ☀️ 64/36
10/3: 🌤️ 69/41
10/4: ⛅ 73/51
10/5: ⛅ 73/50
10/6: ⛅ 71/48
10/7: ⛅ 70/46
10/8: ⛅ 71/47
10/9: ⛅ 69/46

This forecast is better (closer to normal), but the first 5 days of it are definitely NOT normal for the very end of September. At least we get a cooldown, but then it's right back to the upper 60s/low 70s range, barely normal! It's an improvement from the 76 or so that was expected a day or two again at the end of the forecast, but from September 25 (today) through May 19, the average high is less than 70 degrees, so outside of that May 20-Sep 24 timeframe, we really shouldn't be in the 70s anymore as much as I love warmer weather.

Looks like soap, but NOPE!

And that was it!
