Fall Foliage With TR27: Where's The Cooldown? (09.17.25)

Where's The Cooldown?

Update 17 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27

09.17.25

This weather lends the question: Where's The Cooldown? As I've said nearly every day for the past 16 days, it's nowhere to be found! In fact, the latest forecast shows a cooldown this weekend, but "only" down to the low 70s (9/20 MIGHT get stuck in the 60s, but it would almost be 70 if it doesn't get to 70, which is basically average for this time of year), and right after that, during the week of the equinox, we get BACK to the 80s as highs right AFTER the equinox and after THAT, we "only" fall to the low-to-mid 70s. By this time of year, we should start to struggle hitting 70, but it looks like the last 2 weeks of September will not only hit 70 but 80 as well on numerous occasions, and the first day of October is currently expected to be 75, and though that's 14 days out, that's 8°F above average, SERIOUSLY worrying in terms of the climate! We are TOTALLY screwed in terms of climate change, so enjoy this coolest summer for the rest of your lives! I bet by the time I'm in my 30s, we'll be reading 90s in October and winter days will mostly be in the 40s, not cold enough for snow, and I also bet that "winter" will be sweater weather and nothing colder than that, I bet that by March it will consistently be warm enough for warm-weather activities and that warm weather will last through October at the earliest and consistently not phase out until between Columbus Day and Thanksgiving, with highs 70 and above between March (if not February) and November (if not December!)
Come back in the 2030s to this post and see how right you were! Hell, come back later in 2025 and see how right you were! It's STILL warm enough to swim and it's September 17th!

Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:

For today, day 17:

High: 78°F
Average: 72°F
(+6)

Today was not crazy, with highs in the upper 70s and partly cloudy to sunny conditions with spot showers in the area. 6 degrees above average is the bare minimum for orange tier territory, but in terms of the climate, that is still WAY too warm and VERY problematic! In fact, with the way the forecast is going, ALL of September is likely going to be around 5 degrees above average, and 3 degrees above average is already above the target to keep global warming under. BAD.

The expected forecast from 9/18-10/1:
9/18: ⛅ 82/55 *If it hits 83, that's red tier territory! 82 will be red tier territory by 9/20!
9/19: ☀️ 78/45
9/20: 🌤️ 70/42
9/21: ⛅ 72/46
9/22: 🌤️ 77/55
9/23: ⛅ 83/59
9/24: ⛅ 80/59
9/25: ⛅ 76/57
9/26: ⛅ 73/54
9/27: 🌧️ 73/49 (30%)
9/28: ⛅ 73/49
9/29: ⛅ 74/50
9/30: ⛅ 74/50
10/1: ⛅ 75/49 *75 to kick off October. Fall is off to a GREAT start... 😬🥵 The average high on 10/1 is 67. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong, and NO, it's NOT the number 67, since that's all you people want to talk about nowadays (summer '25 nostalgia?)... 😬😰

If the weather wants to keep behaving like this, shut down water parks/Hurricane Harbor on Columbus Day weekend instead of Labor Day weekend. I'm serious, and keep your pools open until then too! I'm 100% serious, and even though I already said that, a forecast this warm suggests that it is totally possible! Considering that September has been THIS warm 3 years in a row, it may already BE possible! This is BAD, and in NO CASE should the weather patterns be the same 3 years in a row!

Here's the main pic and fall foliage pics taken today, 9/17/25:

It's really starting in Northampton, MA!

Nighttime fall foliage pic!

Anyways, tomorrow gets even warmer, but the weekend is getting a TASTE of fall before the actual fall comes, which, with the way the weather's going, will be 2+ weeks from now. We should be getting continuous fall weather starting WITHIN the next 2 weeks, but nope!

See you tomorrow, and it's looking like a day for summer lovers, low 80s and lots of sunshine!
