Fall Foliage With TR27: July on Easy Mode (09.05.25)

July on Easy Mode

Update 5 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27

09.05.25

After so many days in a row of beautiful, pitch perfect summer weather (temps in the low 80s at most with low/moderate humidity), tomorrow, this beautiful pattern comes to an end with expected thunderstorms (potentially severe 😬) and a possibility of up to 2 inches of rainfall, which is basically 2 weeks' worth of rain on 1 day, rather extreme, but much needed with our area entering drought status after a wet start to the summer. Tomorrow will keep the summer temps but after about noon, it's goodbye to the sun and hello to some much needed rainfall!

Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:

For today, day 5:

High: 82°F
Average: 76°F
(+6)

Today was another above average day, once again hitting the low 80s when our average is mid-70s. Not terribly above average, but considering this is at least 3 days in a row of being above average, that is not a good sign for the planet!

The expected forecast from 9/6-9/19:
9/6: ⛈️ 81/55 (95%)
9/7: 🌧️ 69/46 (75%) (the leftovers from 9/6. Also potentially the first day since August 20th to not hit 70!)
9/8: 🌤️ 73/45
9/9: ⛅ 75/49
9/10: ☁️ 70/49
9/11: ⛅ 79/49
9/12: 🌤️ 71/43
9/13: 🌤️ 72/45
9/14: ⛅ 73/48
9/15: ⛅ 76/50
9/16: 🌤️ 78/52
9/17: ⛅ 78/51
9/18: ⛅ 75/50
9/19: ⛅ 76/50

As you can see, except for a few blips (especially 9/7 & 9/10), the forecast is still staying warm as we go further into September! It seems that 9/7, 9/10 and 9/12-9/14 are going to be more "false fall" days with the week leading up to the equinox (starting 9/15) feeling more summery with highs in the mid/upper 70s (maybe 80?) but still with the chilly nights, but low 50s instead of a string of 40s that we get the week prior.

I honestly think summer attractions should be open until Columbus Day weekend (if that's too long, then the last weekend of September/the same time our local fair The Big E concludes, Sunday, 9/26 this year) running weekends from Memorial Day to late June, 7 days a week from late June to late August and then weekends from late August until either late September or Columbus Day weekend. In fact, when I was on that cruise boat in late August, I realized that Columbus Day is the end of THEIR season, and that honestly makes sense. Unfortunately, ending at Columbus Day misses most of fall foliage season (which happens mainly in the 2nd half of October), but I get why that's the end of the line.

Here's the main pic and fall foliage pics taken today, 9/5/25:

Campus fall foliage is starting!

That tree on the left is really getting started and will probably peak long before October starts!

Downtown Northampton, MA!

This time of year is usually the end of the line for the 2 things you see here, 1. Dark green trees and 2. Temps in the 80s if not higher. Sometimes though, these two things both last longer, especially in 2023 when the last 80 degree day was in late October and in 2024 when the last 80 degree day was November 6!

That's beautiful! 🤩

I think the mountain is beginning its transition since I saw visible fall foliage going up it for school this morning. Stay tuned for 9/8's update to see those pics that are coming! It still looks mainly summer, though...

You can tell that the changes are beginning!

Especially here!

The Nashawannuck Pond on the evening of 9/5/25, it's definitely beginning to look like fall!

Tonight was a little bit of a lighter load, but still filled with wonderful pics. See you tomorrow, if I can get out before the storms... 😬

Updated 9/11/25 at 8:55 PM to colorize the forecasted temps based on how far above or below average they are/were.
