Fall Foliage With TR27: Conclusion I (09.30.25)
Conclusion I
Update 30 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27
09.30.25
This update is titled Conclusion I because I have on the fly decided that each month's last update (09.30, 10.31, 11.30, 12.31) will be titled Conclusion followed by the Roman numeral for the month, I for Sep 30, II for Oct 31, III for Nov 30 (end of meteorological fall) and IV for Dec 31, the final update.
Let's just say September 2025 was... HOT. Right now, I'm in a specific vibe of listening to slowed music, producing this and wanting to scroll social media posts talking about summer never wants to end, and this year, it couldn't be any truer. The weather is truly trying to stay in summer as long as it can and it is starting to push boundaries! Before, October would have 70s on occasion and MAYBE hit 80 once, but right now, 4 days in a row are expected to be 80 or warmer in the upcoming forecast for the first 2 weeks of October. Speaking of, let's get to that right now!
Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:
Since it's the end of September, we're going to do TWO summaries: the usual daily summary and the monthly summary for the entire month but that will be done at 2 locations: the PWS (highs listed here are from there) and at Westover AFB, the official highs in our area, and at Barnes AFB (Westfield, MA) if there's no Westover data like on September 1.
Daily summary:
For today, day 30:
High: 81°F
Average: 67°F
(+14)
Monthly summary for ALL 30 days of September:
At the PWS in Easthampton, MA (rounded to nearest °F):
Highs: 75, 84, 81, 80, 82, 82, 68, 77, 77, 80, 82, 80, 79, 81, 85, 78, 78, 85, 81, 75, 72, 73, 77, 68, 72, 80, 81, 86, 79, 81
Average by day: 77, 77, 77, 76, 76, 76, 76, 76, 75, 75, 75, 74, 74, 74, 73, 73, 72, 72, 72, 71, 71, 70, 70, 70, 69, 69, 68, 68, 67, 67
Total: +5.96°F
Basically 6 degrees above average for the entire month. That is BAD, and unfortunately, October looks to be MUCH worse with 80s expected to kick off the month after a few days of seasonable weather on the 1st and 2nd and slightly the 3rd!
Now for the OFFICIAL highs: Sep 1 at Barnes AFB, Sep 2-30 at Westover AFB (rounded to nearest °F)
Highs: 75, 81, 81, 83, 85, 85, 67, 75, 75, 77, 80, 77, 78, 82, 81, 77, 77, 83, 82, 72, 71, 75, 78, 69, 76, 81, 79, 87, 79, 81
(Same averages as above)
Total: +5.63°F
For the PWS, it was only off by about 0.3°F in the monthly total, which is pretty accurate, that means the deviation is only about 10°F for the entire month!
Both of these numbers (5.63°F and 5.96°F) are both greater than 3°C, which is 5.4°F.
The global baseline to keep climate change under is 1.5°C (2.7°C) so we literally DOUBLED that for an entire month! Much like fat cats and other records that the Guinness World Records banned, these are records that should NOT be broken!
October looks A HELL OF A LOT WORSE... See what I mean below!

10/14: ⛅ 67/45
OMG. This forecast is insane. At least we get some rain Indigenous People's Day weekend, we'll definitely need it after the TOASTING that October 4-7 is going to be! Seriously, this is a forecast for the first half of September, NOT October! How in the HELL is the first half of October going to ALL be at or above 65? That's seriously wrong, there should be SOME days below average mixed in, not the entire forecast being average at the coolest! I don't mean below average like when it was 63 on August 20 (still can't get over that 😂), but I don't know, a high of like 55-60? Indigenous People's Day weekend last year had a day in the 40s! Last year! This looks more like the first 2 weeks of September! We are on for a HOT fall, or wait, we're already in that hot fall! 🍁🥵🏖️ (These are 3 emojis that should NOT go together!) This is driving me insane! Let's keep going!
Here's the main pic and fall foliage pics taken today, 9/30/25:
That is a PERFECT color change on a beautiful day like today!
This still looks like summer, WAY too much, except for that changing tree in the back.
These haven't changed AT ALL and it's the last day of September!
Still looks 80-90% summer, WAY too high of a summer ratio for going into October!
OK, this is GORGEOUS! 🤩🤩🤩
Another reading pushing it, it didn't quite get to 84 today, it got to 81. Probably felt 84 in the sun! Today is the LAST day that ANYTHING like "it's only September, of course it's still warm!" works because October is supposed to be sweater weather, NOT poolside weather! People expect September to be hot, but not October or anything past that!
These are probably my favorite trees, the ones that turn from top to bottom!
The forest is starting to look like fall!
The mountain is only STARTING to change at this point!
This last post is me doing the peace sign to heaven. My dad passed away early morning (between about 4-8 AM) on September 30, 2021, exactly 4 years ago today, at the age of 65 due to metastatic adenocarcinoma cancer of the jaw. I feel that him being at Camp Lejeune was a huge factor but let's not get into that drama from before, seeing all those compensation ads for that was ENOUGH! We tried to get compensated, but unfortunately it didn't work! 😭🤦♂️
(Honestly, I just realized something. My dad is in an urn in my bio-mom's bedroom, so there was no point in doing this action! 😂😭)
Anyways, see you tomorrow for a PROPER start to October. After the 2nd, it goes back to full on summer!
