Fall Foliage With TR27: First Day Back (09.02.25)

First Day Back

Update 2 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27

09.02.25

Today was basically pitch-perfect weather, and even though it was the first "true" fall season day (day after Labor Day) today, it felt more like summer, with highs in the upper 70s, and even a max reading of 84 at the KMAEASTH95 PWS in Easthampton, MA, though I doubt that's accurate, it reading high like that will balance out the other data that reads low.

Today was full of sunshine, very comfortable, and overall a gorgeous day to kick off the fall vibes, with fall foliage starting to pop up in different places as chilly nights continue but with the warm days continuing as well.

The weather couldn't have been better to welcome me back to school (college) today, 9.2.25. Yep, summer's officially over for me, and now it's time to get back to work!

Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:

For today, day 2:

High: 84°F*
Average: 77°F
(+7)
*Official record keepings near me in Westfield, MA (KBAF) and Windsor Locks, CT (KBDL) read a high of 79 today, so this is likely a reading higher than what it actually got to. However, I will keep it because eventually, readings like this will balance out readings that read likely below what the max temp was that day over time.

The expected forecast from 9/3-9/16:
9/3: 🌤️ 80/51
9/4: 🌤️ 81/62
9/5: ⛅ 81/63
9/6: ⛈️ 77/53 (82%)
9/7: ⛅ 74/48
9/8: ☀️ 74/45
9/9: ⛅ 74/47
9/10: 🌥️ 72/48
9/11: ⛅ 74/51
9/12: ⛅ 70/47
9/13: ⛅ 71/48
9/14: ⛅ 75/49
9/15: ⛅ 75/50
9/16: ⛅ 74/51

Highs? Normal for this time of year, most days still suitable for swimming! Lows? Rather chilly, we shouldn't have straight 40s lows until after the equinox at the end of the month!

Honestly, this forecast is PERFECT. We have 1 solid day of rain on the weekend and a gorgeous array of days besides that with warm afternoons and chilly nights. Also, Western Mass News is stating how they expect temps to go well into the 80s by the time the cold front arrives on 9/6, so even the forecast is "only" expecting low 80s right now, there IS the possibility that we could be looking at an actual high of mid-80s or possibly above that around 9/5 or 9/6.

We're starting to get a BIT on the cooler side around 9/12 & 9/13 (might not even make it to 70 at this rate), but still plenty comfortable and not too bad for this time of year, after all, it's now September, it's not July anymore.

Anyways, enough blabbering about the weather, here's the main pic and foliage pics taken today, 9/2/25:

The mornings are definitely starting to look like fall with that fog... I feel October vibes right after Labor Day, but all the other trees in the background are still dark green here and probably will be so for the next month...

These trees are starting to change with school now back in session!

The trees in downtown Easthampton at Big E's Supermarket are in fall mode!

Well, some of them anyways.

Leading right up to the mountain, this is the surefire sign. The mountain still looks like summer, so it is clearly too early!

Here's the same location from what you saw around sunrise but in broad daylight. Honestly perfect!

This one's probably peaking already if not less than a week away!

The trees on the Nashawannuck Pond in downtown Easthampton, MA!

On another side...

Pitch perfect!

This store (the local jeweler) is set up with fall decor!

Still early, but some trees are changing!

At this time, Big E's was reading a temp of 75°F, about 23.9°C. For an early September evening, that's either perfect or slightly on the warm side!

Notice the sunlight at 7PM? It's hardly there! By the end of this month, it'll be mostly dark at 7! And then by the end of October, it'll be mostly dark by 6! And then a week after that, it'll be mostly dark by 5!

Decreasing daylight, but trees are still in summer mode!

Updated 8:37 PM on 9/3/25 to add pictures. I had to clear my cache in order for this to work, Blogger wouldn't let me upload photos last night likely because of this! I had built up around 1.2 GB of cache, so it was clearly time to take out the trash that was clogging up my browser!
