Fall Foliage With TR27: I Guess Not! (09.14.25)
I Guess Not!
Update 14 of the 2025 season of Fall Foliage With TR27
09.14.25
Over the past few days, I noticed a trend where after the equinox, temps would fall to the low 70s and even be in the 60s (as a high!) just before it, but it seems that Mother Nature can't decide if it should still be summer or if it's time for fall! We are in the ULTIMATE tug-of-war: The weather tugging us between summer and fall (fall winning at night and summer winning during the day!), the foliage being stuck between summer and fall right now (trees are ALL over the place, many are still dark green/height of summer, some are ALREADY changing, and some have already completely changed are getting ready to lose their leaves before we even get to October!) and stores/media being in ALL 3 seasons: PODS (the moving company) having their last sale of the summer (until 9/22, the first day of fall), most stores/companies holding fall/Halloween sales, and even places like Costco, JCPenney and Balsam Hill (a Christmas tree manufacturer) are already in Christmas mode, with Balsam Hill ALREADY airing "we're starting joy early this year" ads, and keep in mind, since it is "only" 9/14, IT IS STILL TECHNICALLY SUMMERTIME FOR THE NEXT WEEK! Balsam Hill is airing Xmas ads during the SUMMER! Isn't that only supposed to be a July thing, you know, summer in May/June, Xmas gets July, and then back to summer/fall in August, fall in September/October, and then Xmas gets November/December? Like, how it's supposed to be? I honestly saw this coming, but THIS EARLY?! OK, we're getting off track. Now time for the weather. Most of the forecast is now in summer mode as we enter the 2nd half of September, the last actual days of summer, though most agree that it "dies" on Labor Day, which this year, was the 1st!
Here's the summary and fall foliage pics below:
For today, day 14:
High: 81°F
Average: 74°F
(+7)
It seems like the orange tier (slightly above average, +6-10°F) is where we are going to stay, and if this keeps up, we could have a record-breaking fall of warmth! The forecast has again been updated, and trends warmer, especially for the end of it, with temps from 70-82 expected over the next 2 weeks!
The expected forecast from 9/15-9/28:
9/15: 🌤️ 80/53
9/16: ⛅ 79/50
9/17: 🌥️ 75/55
9/18: ⛅ 82/57 (if it hits 83, that's our first red tier day of the season, at 11-20°F above average!)
9/19: 🌤️ 80/46
9/20: ☀️ 70/43 *yay, finally fall...
9/21: ⛅ 73/49
9/22: ⛅ 77/56 *wait, no! What are you doing, summer?! I thought it was supposed to be fall! It's the first day of it and it feels more like the first day of summer right now... Are you trying to make it 80+ degrees on the 1st day of fall?! 🥵😬
9/23: ⛅ 77/57
9/24: ⛅ 77/52
9/25: ⛅ 77/51
9/26: 🌤️ 76/49
9/27: ⛅ 75/48
9/28: ⛅ 75/51
Yikes! For fall lovers, it is NOT looking good. The only good news is that the Northeast and especially New England are in VERY good shape for beautiful fall foliage according to reports, but I must say that it looks like summer will be hanging out for most of September, the only exceptions being 9/20 and 9/21. It looks like a cold front will come through on 9/19 (explains the INSANE -34°F drop from day to night! 🥶) and stick around on 9/20 & 9/21 before summer returns... In astronomical fall. Summer is overstaying for a THIRD year in a row! 😎😬🥵
Here's the main pic and fall foliage pics taken today, 9/14/25:
Best foliage of the day! Keep in mind, it's still INCREDIBLY early. We don't usually hit peak season until Columbus Day at the earliest so usually, most trees stay green until the beginning of October, if not longer. Recent footage (2019-now) proves that fall foliage can linger WELL into November, sometimes the entire month and even the beginning of December!
These usually change in NOVEMBER...
One piece of bad news before I go: Today was the last 7pm sunset in my area for summer lovers. Sure, the weather might still be warm, but it's pitch black at 8 now. Fall is coming whether we like it or not, but MAN, is it taking a while or what?!
See you tomorrow for 2 weeks of updates! This ENTIRE week is looking solidly summer, with pretty much every high on either side of 80! This late in September, we should be on either side of 70, NOT 80... 😬🥵
